Well that week sure went fast. Seems like it was just a week ago and it was Thursday. Read on folks I got a lot to say...j/k
1.I AM GOING TO VEGAS. Yep, you read that right. I wrangled the sister-in-law to come and be a taxi for the kids and Hairball and I are heading for sin city. I love the heat, the people, the gambling, the buildings, the everything that Vegas has to offer. Viva Las Vegas.
2.I volunteered at Nevada's school to help with a reading program. Now I found out it is only for the slow readers and they don't have a program for the excellerated readers. I don't want to help anymore. I thought I would get to be with Nevada too. This angers me as well. Why is the focus always on the lower end of the curve. Why isn't there anything for the brighter children to strive higher towards. I could go on forever on this one...
3.They think they found Steve Fosset stuff. Will the hiker get a reward? I wonder how much it will be?
4.The elections...I know I said I wouldn't talk about it, so I won't. Still angry after writing number 2.
5.Thursday is my major driving night. I hate it hate it hate it
2:20 pick nevy up from school,
4:30 ish pick Kaikoa up from Volleyball,
6:00 pick Harrison up from school,
6:30 drive Nevada to kids club,
7:00 drive Kaikoa to youth,
8:00 pick up Nevada from kids club
9:30 ish pick up kaikoa from youth.
6. Survivor is on tonight. Luckily we have satellite I can time it to watch the whole show in various increments with out missing parts. I wish they would let Canadians try out. who wouldn't want to get paid a million dollars for losing weight....
7. Eldest son now has a new g/f. Very nice girl, very nice family..but alas neither drive and she lives the farthest away from us in our city without actually living in a different city. more driving refer to #5
8. Our neighbors cat has been coming on our deck and spraying. Not sure how to stop the critter. I love cats and don't want to hurt it. Maybe I should drag the neighbor over and rub his nose in it....
9. Still haven't starting cutting the material yet. I did take the mat and the ruler out. Sorry teacher Lisa but the weather has just been too nice and the cat ate my homework....
10.The hockey fanatics are back in full swing. There are these hockey mom's at the school that are just gaga over the Canucks that's all they talk about. They go on and on and on and on. Shut up I say who cares about the Canucks. I am happy when they lose (evil laughter) last part I am just thinking...
11.Canadian Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October. This means it's just over a week away. I love cooking the turkey dinner with all the fixing's. I make the most kick-ass pumpkin pie you will ever taste. Anyone interested in the recipe I can post it or send it email.
12. Back to number 1. I want to stay at a nicer place in Vegas but don't want to have to walk a mile to get to the pool. anyone have any place they can recommend I am all ears.
13. I am done and its my turn for the shower.
1. The theme to Green Acres comes to mind with this sentence. Sin City is the place to be. Nothin’ like the heat, the derelict homeless people living on the streets. Hope you have fun; I’ve been there a few times and just didn’t like it.
ReplyDelete2. Isn’t there like a public library for accelerated readers to get books to read and expand their horizons.
3. Guess I need to go Google Steve Fosset, have no clue who he is or why he’s important.
4. It’s a crap shoot, roll the dice and see who we get!
5. Who exactly is running things? You or the children?
6. I thought losing weight was on that Biggest Loser show. Why should money motivate someone to lose weight anyhow? Apparently I’m not missing anything on reality television.
7. Nice to hear you won’t be a grandmother in the near future.
8. Put a picture of that damn cat on your homepage outside, that ought to keep the critter away!
9. Damn, you’re lazy!
10. WTH, it’s college football season here, what’s a hockey fanatic?
11. Thanks, but I skip Thanksgiving here as well. It means socializing with my family, which I try to avoid at all cost.
12. I hear there are lots of foreclosed homes in Vegas. Have your sister-in-law do some recon work for you and just find a vacant house with a nice pool and take up residence there for a few days.
13. I’m done to. I did a Thursday 13 and it required very little effort on my part. LOL
Come on Carol - isn't this pool worth walking to?

Waves at Kerry - I'm not much for Vegas either - but I bet Carol would make it fun..... Steve Fosset was a rich guy who liked to fly planes - and he flew off from Nevada a year or so ago and vanished......Carol - I believe the hiker turned in about a thousand dollars from the wallet - I wonder if that was really all there was....and I also wonder about carrying a grand around anyhow - I guess the rich are different.
ReplyDeleteHope Harrison starts driving soon to take a bit of the pressure off you and I'm glad you like his new girlfriend. As for the cat - there is cat repellent spray that you can buy which should help deter the beast. You really need to get some of that natures miracle stuff to clean where he has sprayed because he'll keep coming back to the spot if he can smell urine....Bleach might work but I imagine it's tough on the wood.
I think I'll make plans to taste your pumpkin pie in person next year maybe.......
Yeah, now you go to vegas. ok, well we stayed at the tuscany but played in the pool at chris n ambers hotel. the cancun. what a blast it was. see the pics on ambers page of us having fun. I put out chile peppers when we start getting kitty problems. its probably nicer to do what em said. for cryin out loud carol. christmas is going to come n go and your not gonn have the fabric cut. it cant be sunny there every day. it is canada, and I hear it gets cold.
ReplyDelete1. I haven't been to Vegas since 1998, but looks like I'll be living it up there for my birthday in March. I'm not a gambler, but I do love the people watching, the wide variety of live music, and being in a city that never sleeps. I hope you and Hairball have the time of your lives!
ReplyDelete2. Could you propose an accelerated reading group at the school, and volunteer to assist? Certainly there's got to be a teacher and other parents whose children would benefit, just as you'd hoped Nevada would.
6. Survivor is one of the few shows I'll wander downstairs to watch with everyone. I'm not sure why I like it so... And it's even better on Tivo, so we don't suffer through the commercials.
11. I'd love to try your pumpkin pie recipe. I'm staying home for Thanksgiving this year, so I won't have to make the trek to two or more houses just to be with family who are stressed out and cranky. That'll give me plenty of time to play in the kitchen, which I love to do. Here's wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving. :-)
13. A shower... *sigh* Yesterday, our well went dry, so until we get some water delivered, we're on extreme conservation measures. We're doing a made-up version of a rain dance, and hope the aquifer returns to normal with the first of the season's rains.
That's about the smartest idea I have ever heard from you.....
ReplyDeleteI can make the pie anytime you like. I don't just save it for turkey day..
ReplyDeleteWe have had the most incredible string of sunny hot days. I think we just got our summer in September.
ReplyDeleteHaley you really are the wise one here. After reading your idea, I banged my head why didn't I think of that. So after school I brought it up with the teacher but she wasn't too receptive. I find the public school teachers aren't very receptive to any idea that wasn't theirs.
ReplyDeleteQuote "the reading program is for the slower children to catch up"
Me "well I could take a few of the better readers and work on improving their skills"
her "that's not what the reading program is about"
me "I know of a good program used by other schools"
her " why don't we just try this way"
me "I am here to volunteer so I can spend time with my own daughter"
I guess you get the gist...grrr
