know before you grow

Yup, it sure looks like a magnificent plant doesn't it.  Old hairball and I were smiling and patting ourselves on the back with our impressive green thumbs.  We are the champion gardeners.  Last spring while driving down to the river we seen these smaller version species.  We pulled over and with our ever trusty travelling shovel brought a few of these baby's home, in Nevada's old baby bath.(wouldn't want to soil the carpet in the van).

In the past week we have been having showings.  Everyone oohs and aahhs collectively admiring our Hagrid.  We all have been trying to guess what species it is.  Well the gardening bubble has burst.

 No one has been harmed yet and we didn't cause anyone death or permanent scarring or blindness.  Question is now,  How are we going to get rid of it?

thursday thirteen

today is brought to you by, random ideas, thoughts, memories and general observations.

1. i don't feel like hitting the shift button so i am leaving all the letters undercase.  what does this say of me that i will not use the shift button/  that i am in charge of my own destiny, making my own rules.  dang no shift button means no question mark.

2.I have been in the hospital overnight a total of 6 times in my life.  I absolutely love the hospital with all those maids in white uniforms bringing you food on a  tray.  I think I was switched at birth and to the manor was meant to be born.

3.I am a hand washing fanatic.  Way, way back in 1989 I picked up a parasite in Cancun and have been scrubbing these 10 digit vigorously  ever since.  My kids and their friends are marched to the bathroom to wash their hands upon entering our house.  They know the drill and don't put up a fuss.

4.My favourite animal is a capybara and I got to see one yesterday at the zoo.

5.  I like cat's better then dogs.  It's not that I dislike dogs its just that they require more work than I am willing to do.  Sadly, right now all I have are fish and 'percy'.

6.I heard on the radio that people with road rage have a large amount of bumper stickers on their cars.  I can't figure out the correlation to this.  In my mind road rage people should have awesome cars that they don't want damaged and wouldn't crap them up with bumper stickers.

7.We spend alot of summer and fall days fishing for salmon.  We love getting out on the river and also the added treat of eating fresh fish.  This year the salmon fishing is totally closed.  Our freezer is quite low on the tasty treats.  I wonder if I should start rationing soon.

8. After last Xmas we bought and froze a half a dozen cartons of egg nog.  We usually take these out when the hot weather hits and make all kinds of tasty drinks.  There has been no thought to taking these frozen liquid mixes out as of yet.

9.Weeds and alot of them,  I have to go outside and weed today.  No excuses about the weather.  I have friends coming over on saturday one of which has never been to the house in daylight hours.  I want the yard to make a favourable impression.

10.Coffee I am in need of a refill, did I mention my coffee maker attached to the puter idea. 

11.I think I am grasping at straws here now trying to make the 13.

12.  7-Eleven is giving out free slurpies on July 11 mark this date down on your calender.  They do this every year,  I have no idea of the reason why.  Carol slaps her forehead of course 7 month 11th day.   Now I am laughing to myself and nevada thinks I am strange.

13.They say a mind is a terrible thing to waste.  Think about how much time your mind has wasted reading to the end of this.

I am on the edge of my seat

 

I love watching golf and especially when my Tiger is playing.  He just birdie putted the 18th once again to go into sudden death overtime.   I think Rocco must be totally high right now thinking about playing with the greatest golfer on earth and a possible first time win in the PGA tour.  Rocco is older than me and Tiger is just 32.  I kind of would like the old guy to have a taste of victory and what better win then against the best player of all time.  But I really can't cheer against my Tiger especially as he just had knee surgery. Both are wearing red shirts.  Looks not so hot for Southern Cal. this time of year.

They're on the 7th hole right now. Tiger is at the tee, on the fairway yes!!!

Rocco is up, dang in the bunker.  poor Rocco.

I hope its over at the end of this hole I can't take the suspense and I have to leave to pick Nevada up from school.  Aww sorry Nevy but I was watching golf and couldn't leave to go get you.

Ouch Rocco is in a bad spot, up against the grandstands. Things are looking pretty good for my Tiger. Tiger is on the green in two.  I can totally see myself stalking him.lol I wonder if he would want to trade his supermodel wife for and old lady with 3 kids.

oh Rocco got it on the green, if Tiger makes this put he wins. Aww now I am wishing for Rocco to win. 

It was like when I was pregnant with my third I wanted a girl so bad after two boys, but when the doctor said its a girl I kind of had a twinge about wanting 3 boys...

anticlimax  Tiger won I feel strangely robbed and also relieved.  I kind of want to cry for Rocco.

Well got to run, have a kid to pick up.

Caturday

I just had to bring my friend back.  You wouldn't believe the time I have spent looking for him.  Then I remembered I left him on my old 360 album.  He was a little ticked off and hungry of course so I fed him Em's suicide/murder fish. 

This brings me to another question,  what does one do with the old 360 page.  I had a few messages sitting there from many months ago and feel bad about not answering them.  Is there a way to just close the page.  I actually liked 360 better and could figure how to do things there.  I still haven't quite gotten how to do my homepage here.  I just change the ones they offer but would rather have my own background.  Is there a tutorial for that somewhere.

Today is the last day of my mom's visit.  We had a great time doing basically nothing just visiting and catching up.  I hope it warms up here soon.  It seems I have been doing alot of cold weather complaining.  I feel sorry for the all the people that have been here all winter and still no sun.  At least I had 3 months in paradise.

Wednesday's Why's

1. Why is it so cold here?  We have had to have the gas fireplace on all day.

2.Why do people come into other peoples blogs that they aren't even friends with and spout off rude things. If you don't have anything nice to stay shut up.

3. Why don't they make a computer with a built in coffee dispenser so you don't have to get up to fill your cup/

4.Why is there commercials on every channel at the same time.  You go to check what else is on and there is commercials everywhere?

5.Why do goldfish only grow as big as their environment?  If I put one in a lake would I get the lochness monster?

6.Why do some months have 30 days and some 31.  Who picked which months get what, and why didn't they just take a day off one of the 31 day months and give it to poor feb.

7.Why did I inherit my mom's gene of chin hair?  I think I should just grow a beard and give up the fight..

I could why forever but its time to wake the kid-lings for school.....

thursday thirteen thoughtful/ thoughtless/thinking/trivial things

1.On tuesday I changed the vacuuming bag in my vacuuming cleaner.  In all my years I have never ever changed the bag.  I don't mean the bag was never changed, just that I had never done it.  I have always delegated this job to hairball and pleaded ignorance to how the whole operation was done.  It was a surprisingly quick and painless task.  I never said I changed the bag, I don't want to get in the habit, so I don't end up with that job.

2.I know how to check the oil in the van or any car I guess.  But I have yet to ever add any liquid into a motor vehicle excluding gas.  I'm thinking I should probably know how to check brake fluid and the windshield washer stuff.  But if I learn will that be one more job I have to do.

3.We went for lunch yesterday at this most awesome oriental place.  I thought I was ordering these most delicious prawn thingies wrapped in a vermicelli noodle with peanut sauce.  I wasn't sure what they were called and didn't ask and got the wrong kind of roll.  Why didn't I just ask the waitress what it was?

4.My neck has been sore these past few days and I think its because I am sleeping with the window open right by my head.  The weather here has been really unseasonably cool.  I don't want to shut the window cause I love breathing the fresh air and listening to the birds sing in the morning.

5.For three nights a week now I have been walking with a mother from the kids swimclub.  I have known her for a few years but have never really had long conversations.  I just found out the other day she was only 32.  That explained alot of her ways of thinking.

6.Kaikoa and Nevada will be finished school in a couple of weeks.  I am totally looking forward to it.  I love having my kids around and doing fun things.  I hear parents complaining already at the school about having to spend time with their kids over the summer.  HELLO,  why did you have them then?

7.A few months ago before we left on holidays I was in a rush for a haircut and just ran into one of those cheapy places that you don't need an appt.  Never again it was the worst cut of my life.  Surprisingly 4 months later it has actually grown in really nice and I won't be getting it re-cut for awhile.

8. My mummy is coming for a week on Sunday, I am so happy.  It has been far too long since we had a visit.  I might not agree with some of the things she has done (will dispute)  but everyone makes mistakes and who are we to judge.

9.Percy has slowed his growth somewhat with the cold weather.  I go and have a chat with him daily as he deals with his Amber issues. We were thinking of putting him in therapy.

10.Have you ever heard the story of the woman in England that put an internet friend in the freezer.  I think it was one of the first internet encounter crimes...Carol looks over her shoulder.

11.Why can't I make good coffee.  I try everything different grounds, different amount, everything I just can't make good coffee.

12.I tried to call this number yesterday posted on line to order strawberries for a fund raiser.  First call angry lady no strawberries.  I look carefully at the number and dial slowly.  same lady very angry NO STRAWBERRIES.   I dial one more time to tell her that her number is listed as the strawberry contact for the Lions Club.  She doesn't let me say a word and lets off a stream of obscenities and slams the phone down.  I think I will call her a few times today, maybe ask about some raspberries, blueberries what the heck maybe even plums and apples

13.I am really going to try to make it to Vegas in Sept.  I did check the flights yesterday and they went from $79 up to $129.  I think this high oil prices is hitting everything.  Even the big bag of rice I buy at the Superstore went up 2 bucks.

Child bride and cradle snatching

Yep, that's me and the old hairball.  Hard to believe it's been 25 years since we tied the knot.  Where have all the years gone?  Looking back over the past quarter of a century I would honestly have to say the good times far out weigh the rough times.  It's getting through the rough times and not bailing when the going gets tough is what sets apart the men from the boys.  That probably didn't make any sense but I know what I mean.  One has to accept the other for what they are and not go into a relationship planning to change them.  After all you fell in love with them for the person they are not what you hope to change them into.We had lived together 2 years prior to getting married so in a sense this could also be our 27th living together anniversary. 

Don't you just love the hat?  It has 80's wedding written all over it.  FYI our weeding song was the theme from Young and Restless.  We starting watching the soap when we first moved in together and are still watching it.  No one else on the soap is married to the same person lol
