eulogy for a point of interest

Today marks the day a useless point of interest is no more. For the past few weeks since the beginning of the school year I have been walking by a flattened box of Children's Motrin. Everyday and twice a day I have passed this icon of garbage on my daily journey to and from Nevada's school. I have watched said box make its way along the street further and further. It made me realise that the wind must only blow eastward along our road as that is the way the box travelled. Last week the bright orange on the box had faded to a dull orange but the letters were still legible. This weekend we had torrential rain and I'm afraid said box succumbed to all the wet. Motry was a pulpy pile of nothing this morning. He still had a slight tinge of orange in spots but is a shell of his former self. Goodbye Motry may you rest in recycling or paper smush heaven. About this point you are probably wondering why didn't Carol pick the garbage up at some point. I myself have wondered this too, why indeed did I find the journey so interesting. I can't answer these questions. However, I have had a bit of amusement to make an otherwise routine walk a bit more exciting. I really think I have to get a life.

Thursday Thirteen random thoughts and wishes

1. Like just about everyone out there I would like to lose weight. I am not particularly heavy, just want to wear a two piece when I head south for the winter.

2. I need to practice more patience with my eldest child. When I show my anger it always ends up in a verbal altercation.

3. Not spend so much wasted time playing on the computer.

4. Take a course at the college to get my brain working again.

5. Do more yardwork. I actually enjoy it once I get out there and start something.

6. Start a new sewing or knitting project, anything crafty.

7. Clean out the big freezer in the basement, I know I have frozen fruit possibly from the 90's J/K.

8. Bring my library books back before they are overdue.

9. Book our flights before the prices get too high.

10. Clean the computer desk. There is much too much crap on here and I am running out of room for my coffee cup.

11. Slap Harry around just for the fun of it. Just checking to see if your reading everything. lol

12. Send some friends a real email with words instead of forwards.

13. Get this thing posted, so I can get off my butt and do something constructive.

Wow I can totally relate to those with bloggers block. I have been at a total loss of what to talk or write about. Could be the lack of sleep I am getting. It seems like weeks now that I haven't been getting enough sleep. I am waking up tired and that is not a good thing with me. Tired Carol is a grouchy Carol. I have tried no caffiene, staying up late, going to bed early but all to no avail. I am so tired I don't even remember how to spell. I just had to spell check avail. I like to use an online spell checker and not the one that is on the 360 page. Everytime I use the 360 spell checker or the hotmail spellchecker for that matter it loses my post. And of course I never think to copy it before the spelling check. Sometimes I just use the excuse of the fingers slipping on the keyboards. I hate poor spelling, there was a time I could spell anything but alas as I age my mind is slipping. Speaking of spelling my youngest just brought home her first spelling test of her life and ahem she got 100%... Yeah Nevada!!!! Well I guess I have talked alot about nothing so see ya later.

Well here's my contribution for Caturday. I was surprised to learn that it really exists as shown inhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caturday. I have had many a cats in my life time and have loved them all. No two cats were alike each with their own personalities and quirks. Personally creepy my avatar is one of my favs.

Lots to do today so can't stay and chat too long. The first week of school went smoothly and uneventfully. All the kids got their classes and the teachers they want. I will wait a couple of weeks to tell the schools about their extended absent-es in the new year. Try to come up with a distance education plan that might not be able to include a computer.

happy weekend

Let the harvest begin

We have so many fruit trees in our yard. I can't keep up with all the fruit. I just finished picking and freezing blueberries and now the plums are starting to fall, all three full grown trees of them. You can't leave them on the ground or they attract wasps and get all squishy. It isn't unheard of here either for the odd bear to come up the river for a bite to eat. I don't mind eating plums and making the odd dessert out of them but don't really want to go through the work of doing anything else with them. I am of the mind sort that can't let them go to waste. My freezer is still full from last years apples and possibly the years before and I have two loaded apple trees here that are nearing picking time. Last year I invited many a friend and casual acquaintance to come pick and share the bountiful harvest. However, it seems people feel uncomfortable accepting something free. Or perhaps they want the perfect piece of fruit without a slight blemish on it. Our trees are all natural with no spray so with that you don't get the perfect outer skin.

So everyone watch their mail as I am sending bags of fruit to everyone on my 360 list. Hope they survive the internet travel.
