Well you can probably tell by the title what my blog is about. After supper Harry and I went to the canal to do some fishing and have quiet time with out the kids. Not that I don't absolutely love them to pieces but it has been a long summer. How many days till school starts? 7 sleeps but who is counting? Ok to get back on track here... Well before we left I thought maybe I should drink a couple of lime margaritas. Summer is almost over and I really don't want to be drinking margaritas with mittens on. Then I thought well I don't really want to go to the river and not have anything to drink as I might get thirsty. So I packed a cooler of beer for me and caffeine free diet coke for harry. He can't have caffiene cause of his high blood pressure which incidentally isn't high any more since he cut out caffeine and salt, and someone had to be the designated driver. Well to make this short story longer after I sipped a few cold brew-ski's well, actually downed... The bladder was mighty full, having three kids has not done wonders for the holding powers. I take some paper conveniently stored in the glove box and look for a suitable location. Having found the ideal spot I lower the gear and breath a sigh of relief. Moments later I feel a soothing warmth on my left foot. Previously my ankles were being eaten alive by mosquito's, somehow a long blade of grass had made a channel for the flow to run into my shoe and soak my sock... Well needless to say tomorrow I will wash the runners. tonight I settled for washing my feet and leaving the sock on the porch.

peeing on my shoe

The old saying holds true.
The worst day fishing is still better then the best day at work. Yesterday we went out in the boat to go fishing. We thought we'd set a couple lines for sturgean and do a bit of bottom bouncing for salmon. I filled the cooler with drinks and treats and packed a new magazine that I haven't read yet and headed out. What a perfect day, just enough clouds and light breeze that we didn't fry out on the river. We seen a sturgean roll right when we got there pretty close to where we had set the lines. I guess he wasn't too hungry though as we never got a bite. The salmon fishing didn't pan out either as we came home empty handed. It was so peaceful and scenic I often forget with all our travels that we live in a pretty special place right here. Try not to notice me hiding my beer in a couple of pictures. Someone commented to me that in every picture they see of me I always have a beer in my hand.

Something new
The masses have spoken and its time to update. Not sure what to talk about but give me a second and I can probably come up with something. Ahh, I have been blackberry picking and have scratches to prove it. Today I got tangled in the vines and Nevada had to come rescue me out of the nasty bushes. How about that I sent a one month deposit on my three month Caribbean vacation in the new year. What else, hmmm I bought a 20 pound box of peaches and they are so sweet and juicy they are like a taste of nirvana. Ha, I have never used the nirvana word in a sentence before. nirvana nirvana nirvana..... Well what else is new at the end of this totally weather mixed up summer. Pretty soon it will be time to go school supply shopping. Strangely my kids love school and keep bugging me to do it . Well I see my mom is IM'ing me so I better go.

Today, I bury my sister. As some of you may know she passed away Dec 9,2006. After a quick illness of cancer and an even quicker death. We have already held the funeral service but there wasn't time for the burial and people had to get back to their families. I have been putting this off for months and finally thought that I had to bite the bullet and make the arrangements. Coincidentally today is also the 8 year anniversary of our father's death. Also from cancer.
I remember and it doesn't seem that long ago the first person I knew that died. It was my Uncle Cyrul and he died the same day that Elvis did. I was 14 at the time and had never personally met someone that had died, well met before they died you know what I mean. I remember crying and my dad asking "why are you crying"? He said you can cry because you will miss them, but don't cry for them as they have gone to a better place. That is one of the most memorable comments I think he made. I don't think I ever listened to much else he said but that one stuck in my mind.
Well hope I didn't put a downer on your weekend. I am sort of sad but not really knowing what I am feeling. Maybe that you should never waste time on things that don't matter cause life can be too short.

Foreign languages, I wish I could speak many of them. My dad was a real linguist. He just had to hear a language for awhile and he could pick it up and speak it. For the first 5 years of my life I only spoke french. Then when I started school I was teased by the other children who spoke english and refused to speak french again. I wish my mother had made us keep up the language at home. Sadly now I only know a bit of french.
I can however order beer in many different languages and can count to ten in french, spanish, german, and piglatin.
ibay.....
