Thursday Thirteen

things to think about, talk about, ponder and just to wonder why?

1. Why do some people have the second toe longer then the first?  It is kind of creepy to me(no offence to you second longer toe people)  but don't you think the first toe should be the longest?  The shoes are all cut to fit that way.

2. Why can't people live in any country they choose.  Just because we are born in one country, I don't see why if we are of good charactor and financial standing we just can't live anywhere in the world.  It's not my fault I was born somewhere cold.  Why do I have to be punished into living here the rest of my life.

3.People that don't deserve kids seem to pop them out annually.  Shouldn't there be a mandatory fixing for negligent parents?

4.What's with all the pencils I buy now.  The lead falls out everytime I sharpen them.  I have bought so many different brands and they are all the same. When I was a kid the pencils leads never fell out.

5.Last year none of the lilacs on our trees smelled.  I asked many a gardners and no one had an answer.  This year the lilacs are back and smelling awesome.

6.If I skip breakfast and don't eat anything till about 11AM I can totally control what I eat the rest of the day.  However if I eat a good breakfast its like telling my tummy I will fill you from now till dusk.  The diet people  tell you to eat a good breakfast.(they probalby have second longer toes)

7.When I am in a really good mood my hair always turns out good that day.  What came first the hair or the mood?

8. Now I am at a loss for words.  I think I just hit a writers block.  ho hum lets see umm it is raining and cool today.  I have goosebumps on my legs.

9.I didn't know what to make for supper so I told Hairball it was his day.  He always makes Turkey soup when he makes supper.  Guess what we are having for supper?  Yup you guessed right Turkey soup.  I'm not going to complain I actually secretly like his soup.

10.I have this irrational dislike of a person on my soap opera.  I know its crazy to have a hate on a fictional character but I find myself getting really angry at how this person gets away with everything.  I want a walk on part and do her some damage.

11. My mommy is coming to visit, I am so excited.  We haven't seen her since Dec06 when my sister passed away.  She is going to be surprised at how big the kids are.

12.In less then a week I will be married for 25 years.  I can't believe how long it has been.  I don't feel like I am old enough to be married that long.  I guess I must be an adult but inside I feel like a young person still.

13.  The snails are after all my stuff.  They ate the top off one of my Percy's and nibbled my dill right down to the ground.  I want to spray the whole yard with killer and get rid of those plant eating bast**ds.....lol  j/k maybe I will just take them out with my ouzie.

internet meetings and information

Photobucket

I am reading a book right now by Ann Rule.  She is a true crime writer, that tries to bring the victim's character alive through talking of their past up until their demise.  Anyways in the book I am reading now "Too Late To Say Goodbye"one of her victims thought she was having an online affair with a sensitive guy, who turned out to be a woman.  What I am leading up to here is, how much info does one give away on the internet without really knowing who they are talking to?

A couple of years back a group I belonged to exchanged real life addresses so we could send christmas and birthday cards.   I never really felt comfortable doing it.  I know all the ladies were legit but I still had ill feelings.  Nothing ill toward has happened because of this and I have received beautiful cards from many a countries.  I still wonder though if I did a wise thing.

I have also met 3 people in real life that I met online.  Em, her best bud Patti and another lady Judy.  They all turned out to be wonderful people and I would have never wanted to miss out on that oppurtunity.

What info do you share and how many real life meetings with internet people have you all had?  Have you ever regretted TMI?

enquiring minds want to know?

Percy Reincarnate

May 21,2008

Once upon a time there was a Percy, he was a harmless fellow looking for the sun. But alas a wicked Amber killed him before his time. From his ashes he was reborn to live again.

Wednesday's WTF?

1.  There was a stabbing murder this past weekend at the lake by our place.  We have gone to this lake since I was a kid and it's always been a beautiful peaceful family place.  There are numerous beaches and glorious mountain scenery.  Two groups of teens with a disagreement,  back when we were teens we would have just pushed the othe guy off the wharf and that would be the end.  Why does every confrontation now have to esculate into violence.

2.Back east  in Canada they let a teen girl get 18 months in a juvenile facility and 6 months probation.  The poor dear all she did was beat another girl unconscience and then set her on fire.  What kind of punishment is that?

3.It's not that the gas is high enough here now our provincial government in adding an extra gas tax on top of what we allready pay?  I'm guessing he gets a fuel allowance in his paycheck.

4.It's been cold and rainy here for the last couple days, what happened to the record breaking heat of the weekend?  On the plus side of the cool wet is the plants I moved will have time to adjust to their new home.

Phew, it's amazing just typing out wtf has released the anger and now I am in Zen mood.  I will just sit here and sip my morning coffee and think about what I can do today.  Last night I made Patricia's crispy cheese potatos and they were most yummy.  The kids loved them and there wasnt' a single one left over.

The river behind our house is up to the first step,  some of you that read my blog last year might remember that we went up to step 14.  There are 20 steps in all and then its time to head to higher ground.  Well must go wake said middle child up, school ya know....

back in time

to enjoy the yard.  We did miss most of the bulbs blooming and the marigolds but the rest is in its glory.  Yesterday I weeded for about 3 hours.  Today I can barely move my legs.  I can bend down very slowly but forget about getting back up again.  We have almost an acre here and its very time consuming.  I had to buy gas for the lawn mower,  I put in $20. and it barely gave me 3/4 of a can.   I am thinking of getting a goat.  Just kidding we aren't allowed goats here in the city.  Alot of people don't believe that we can grow a Palm Tree us here in Canada but the picture is worth a thousand words.  About the middle of November we wrap the little sucker in burlap sacks then wrap that with thick poly.  We put a light bulb inside and when it is really cold we turn the light on.  Every year it gets harder and harder.  Usually there is alot of cussing and swearing. But in the spring it is worth the effort.

Happy May long weekend.

Thursday Thirteen

is brought to you by 'would you or wouldn't you'.  Be honest and no cheating.  We aren't here to judge you. Just to make fun of your answers,  j/k.  OK here goes....

 Would you or wouldn't you....

1. Stomp on a birds head to put it out of its misery if you seen it injured on the road and it is in real pain.

2.Have wonderful, mind blowing, monkey sex in a stopped elevator with a very hot stranger.

3.Take the last parking spot in a crowded mall even if you seen someone waiting for the spot ahead of you.

4.Pick your nose in public hiding the offending finger with your other hand.(sometimes known as the camo-pick)

5.Taste from the stirring spoon when your cooking supper for guests.

6.Pretend you computer is acting up to get off a boring chat on messenger.

7.Keep the cash if you found a roll of money on the road or somewhere and no identification with it.

8.Wear thong underwear, attending the funeral of an elderly relative.

9.Book a holiday at Christmas just so you don't have to spend time with your family.

10. Push and shove your way into a store when there is a hot sale on.

11.At a party, sneak ahead of time to where the yummies are and snark down a few of your favourites.

12.Put your weight from your early twenties on your driver's license.

13. Go back in time and change one choice you have made in life.

I will put my answers in later, my computer is acting up right now......

Lets talk trash Tuesday

I mean really it is trash day.  Our recycling and trash gets picked up on Tuesday.  Unless of course its a holiday and then it will follow on Wednesday unless that too is a holiday and then it will be Thursday.  However, holidays falling on Tuesday and Wednesday can only happen on Christmas and Boxing Day so the odd of that happening are very slim.  But in fact it did just happen this past 2007.  What relevance does this have you ask?  Absolutely nothing except that I can't think of a thing to blog about and just like to ramble.  Before we left on holidays they never picked up before about 5 in the afternoon.  Today I am walking home after dropping Nevy off at school and the dang truck is going down the street.  It's not even 9AM.  I put myself in fast trot mode to get to the house and bring the crap out to the curb before the truck gets there.  Luckily eldest child has been home for the last couple months and had put the trash out while I was gone. Did you know that since we have started recycling everything and composting we can barely fill one trash can a week. That's a family of five.

Happy Garbage Day to you

half pic

Boy am I having a problem with multiply.  It isn't displaying my contact picture properly.  Is anyone seeing the whole shot.  I can only get the top part of the picture to display. grrrr

Another grrr is the really cool weather here.  Today I am wearing jeans, shirt and coat in the house and have a blanket wrapped around my legs.  Who stole spring from the west coast?  Apparently they have had only the odd sunny day here followed by days of cold rain.

Grr number 3 it feels like we never left,  back to the drudgery of house work and taxi service.  Why does it feel like I never left.  If I was gone for three months shouldn't the memory of the holidays last three months.  Been home for 4 sleeps and it feels like I never left.

Grr number 4  someone has been vandalising our property by the river.  While we were gone our canoe was stolen and last night some messed with our stuff on the path.  We strongly suspect the neighbor kids but what can you do with out proof.  One winter we seen them pushing our chairs out onto the ice. I confronted the parents but they are about as useless as tits on a nun.

Grr grr grrr  sorry about the grumbling and growling just need to vent somewhere.  I was venting on the kids but felt bad.  Giving me another grr about myself taking it out on them.

thursday thirteen home sweet home

Just stuff you may want or not want to know.

1. We flew home on Tuesday May 6.  Our flight left at 6:45 eastern time so we had to be up at 4AM to catch the shuttle at 5. We didn't get home till 7:30 PM PST.  So by the time we went to bed we had been up for about 21 hours.

2.  Nevada got sick in the Atlanta airport and spewed all over a few ladies legs as we ran for the bathroom.  It's amazing how they quickly let her butt in line when they were hit with the collateral damage.  She spewed again on the plane before take-off but we had the barf bags ready.  The flight crew were really helpful and she fell asleep shortly after and all was good.

3.I packed all out coats and didn't know which of the 7 luggage's they were in so we froze our butts off all the way home from the Seattle airport.

4. I drove for the first time in over three months and it seemed like I had never quit.  I guess its like riding a bus you just get right back into it.  The price of gas sure shocked the crap out of me.

5. I missed all my tulips, daffodils and magnolia blooming.  The grass in the back yard was about a foot tall but at least said oldest son mowed the front lawn( the day we were to arrive home).

6. The house was in good shape, Harrison had even cleaned the bathrooms and put fresh sheets on our beds.  What a good boy.  There was no food in the fridge though.

7. I did laundry yesterday for about 12 hours.  Everything is washed dried and folded but I still have to put a couple stacks away.  I want to get rid of a bunch of old and tired clothes but the pack rats won't let me get rid of anything.

8. My birthday was last Sunday and it was great celebrating it in a warm and sunny place.

9.If your ever in Fort Lauderdale you have to take the water taxi.  It's the best deal out there.  You get unlimited passage all day for only $13. www.watertaxi.com

10.I was in grocery heaven yesterday.  Having been on the island for the past three months with exhorbant prices and poor quality produce,  I filled the cart with fruit and vegetables.  I got two gallons of milk for over a dollar less then I spent on the over $8 gallon I bought the last week in the Bahamas.

11. Today I am back wearing jeans, shirt, socks, and a jacket in the house.  No showing off my tan as the only thing showing is my hands and face.

12. I am going to have salmon for supper.  Our freezer is full of salmon and I sure missed having it while we were away.

13.Nevada went to school today and she was so excited all the kids surrounded her and were commenting on how tall she had grown.  I think she sprouted up about 4 inches while we were gone.  I know all her shoes don't fit or her jeans.  I am going to try to put off buying new jeans til after the summer as why buy new clothes for the last weeks of school.
