Wahoo we are going to Las Vegas and Disneyland over the spring break. It seems like forever since I played craps while sipping on a nice cold one. (truthfully chugging back the free cold one). We aren't big gambles mostly nickle slots buy I love the 1 dollar crap table at Slots Of Fun. It is right next to the street so is relatively smoke free and usually there is a great group of fun people playing.
Nevada is so excited about Disneyland, she has never been and Kaikoa was too young to remember. I have been there so many times it doesn't really have an appeal to me but the younger ones deserve the memories too.
We tacked on a couple of days before the school break and one after to make the holiday a little longer. Why is it they don't have spring break at Easter like they used to. It makes more sense to have a longer break then two short ones. I'm not sure when they changed it but I say move it back.
chow all....

Wow time sure flies and you realize you are way behind on your blog entries... Well, where to start?
hmm.... how about having a huge age spread between your kids. One minute your driving your oldest and his gf to the family planning centre and the next your speeding home to bake cupcakes for your youngest grade one Vaentines party. Talk about switching gears.
The funny thing about this all is people just assume my kids are from different relationships. Total strangers will make comments. "Are your children from a mix marriage?" I would never say that aloud, I make think it privately in my mind but to voice that opinion I think is just rude.
Well I could keep rambling but I am out of words happy day after valentines.

out of the mouth of babes
Kids say the darnest things. Hey, that could be a TV show. Wait a minute it was a tv show.
Nevada went to a play with the neighbor on Sunday. ( Beauty and the Beast ) She was telling me about it as we walked to school yesterday. I had to laugh she called the broom in the play the "swifter". That would be a good commercial plug for them.
It's amazing the things kids don't know about or remember that are just everyday to us. I don't think my kids would know what to do with a dial phone. Or how about TV without a channel changer they would probably sit and watch the same channel even if news were on it.
I make all my kids write in a journal so they have something to remember their childhood. They actually have to do it with pen and paper. And here I am doing it electronically.
What activites do you think they could do that is a blast from the past? What were your favourite memories as a kid that aren't the norm today?

Good morning fellow blogsters, unless of course you are reading this another time of day, all three or four of you. After a week long stint of sunny and beautiful weather we are back to the usual wet coast damp chilly rain. Which brings me to my topic of the day, homelessness. Last night driving to pick my son up from work. I seen a man all huddled and sleeping in a ball up against a brick building downtown. From a distance at first I thought it was a black garbage bag. This saddened me to no end, it put a lump in my throat and an ache in my heart. For this is exactly how we treat the homeless in this society like garbage. I wish I had a blanket in my van as I would have went and covered him up. There was a time I would laugh at the unfortunate and at times be angry with them. Why didn't they get a job? Why didn't they get a life? Now I know there are many out there that don't have the mental capacity to help themselves. Today I sit here wondering if I could have done more for that poor unfortunate soul. Perhaps called someone to pick him up. Maybe I could have spent a bit more time investigating perhaps if he was hurt and needed medical attention. I know there is no answer I just wish people would have a bit more compassion these day for those less fortunate then us.
