and now I am not happy with my colour choices. I'm not sure if its just me or did I just pick the wrong colours to go together. For the pattern I can go with the same eight colours to make up the pinwheel or just randomly throw different ones together. I am going to make the background part all one colour. the solid green on the bottom right is going to be the background.http://www.quilterscache.com/P/Pinwheel8Block.html
this is the block I am attempting to make...
Any ideas will be helpfull...
Ok I think I decided on this one.
I am definitely not great with this stuff - but I don't think there's a problem with the colors - they seem to work well together. But it seems to me you have a nice assortment of abstract patterns - and then there's that bear print or whatever it is that just jumps out at me as odd. If I was going to pick a single combination for those pinwheels, I'd go with the collection on the bottom - but I'd swap out the orange daisy print and use the blue plaid.
ReplyDeleteIn a stack n whack, the pins wheels are usually all exactly the same pattern. Assuming that they are now all exactly the same, since I know you didnt buy that much of each fabric, you could pair two up and make two of the same blocks of each color, or you could do solids or some of each. lay them out on the floor, take apicture of them in differnt arrangemants then look at them in pictures. that will help you decide if you want to keep them as one color blocks, or mix n match. you might find that some colors just wont sit next to anything else so they must be a solid block of one color. some colors may need to be mixed to bring them out. this is your project to play with. have fun with it. if you decide to take pics of the different arrangements and still need a nudge, post them up and we will help you.
ReplyDeleteI didn't go with the stack n whack. I just went with the pinwheel pattern. I didn't want to have too much material waste with my thrifty ways... Harry's mom just came over and she right away picked a good combo. I will show you when I get it all cut. thanks to you both for your input...
