Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Take for instance the animosity towards the Dandelion.  I think they are rather pretty and bright.  They grow just about anywhere and don't require replanting or reseeding.  One can make a colourful bouquet or a refreshing wine and even a tossed salad.  Of course for the latter two, you would want to ensure your crop came from and un-sprayed in every sense of the word place.  So I proclaim April 29th National Love The Dandelion Day.  Long may it bloom in its bright sunny glory : )

  4. A weed is generally something that grows wild and is invasive.....dandelions qualify because their seeds float everywhere and end up in places you don't want them...while most flowers have seeds that just fall next to the existing plants.

And those long lanky milky stems are really ugly when there isn't a flower on the end of them.

  5. LOL I don't want them in my yard either.
They choke out the good grass.
That is the reason I have Tru Green
coming out every month, to get rid of
    those nasty suckers.
    LOL

  6. Ok Carol, they do make great dandelion wine, I don't know about the salads, I have never ate them like that....but they are a weed because they are ALL OVER the place where they are NOT wanted. They also choke out things that are wanted, like grass, and flowers.

  7. Im sure if you really wanted a ard of these little dandy's, your neighbors would be happy to drop them on your lawn. The rest of us, would rather not have them at all. I think this may be your own private party of dandy lion fans.
