Lets talk trash Tuesday

I mean really it is trash day.  Our recycling and trash gets picked up on Tuesday.  Unless of course its a holiday and then it will follow on Wednesday unless that too is a holiday and then it will be Thursday.  However, holidays falling on Tuesday and Wednesday can only happen on Christmas and Boxing Day so the odd of that happening are very slim.  But in fact it did just happen this past 2007.  What relevance does this have you ask?  Absolutely nothing except that I can't think of a thing to blog about and just like to ramble.  Before we left on holidays they never picked up before about 5 in the afternoon.  Today I am walking home after dropping Nevy off at school and the dang truck is going down the street.  It's not even 9AM.  I put myself in fast trot mode to get to the house and bring the crap out to the curb before the truck gets there.  Luckily eldest child has been home for the last couple months and had put the trash out while I was gone. Did you know that since we have started recycling everything and composting we can barely fill one trash can a week. That's a family of five.

Happy Garbage Day to you

Carol

  1. It's amazing how much trash is generated when there's little or no effort made to recycle. Here in our household, we recycle and compost quite a bit, which means that our trips to the dump are infrequent. No garbage pick-up service out here in the boondocks.

Kudos to said eldest child for planning ahead. :-)

  3. We get trash pickup twice a week - and recycle once.....and I probably generate a garbage can full each week (though I use tall kitchen bags so I'm not quite sure). Of course, I can blame some of it on the cats - litter is not something to be composted - at least not in a townhouse yard, lol.

  4. Our trash can is one of those standard round plastic thingy's with a lid. Our inside garbage is one that we line with grocery bags. I have also bought those cloth grocery bags now, so we don't get so many plastic bags.
