Isn't she the cutest. She's three days old today. Poor little thing is missing her momma and family. She peeps all day and night. I just have to put my hand in her cage and she hops onto it. I am not sure if she goes and gets water on her own so every hour I go downstairs and dip her beak in the water. I'v been trying to get her to pick at her food by scratching it with my nails, the food that is.
'Bird' that's her name is an Americana chick and will lay coloured eggs. What ever the colour of the first layed egg that is the colour they all will be. I am told she should have her fist egg by fall. I am not sure if she will survive though. This morning I got up and went to check on her and she was lying on her back in the far corner of the cage away from the heat light and freezing. Tonite I will get up and check on her to make sure she doesn't get cold. I wish I could have gotten at least two chicks as they could have huddled and kept each other company. The chicken lady only had one though. Just as well we have a city bylaw that prohibits fowl in the city limits. I guess if the chicken nazi's show up I will just play stupid huh what chicken?
Well that is where I have been spending my time. Sorry not to have been on here much.
